Re: How High is the Lake and Can I Get Under the Bridge?

It's Tue July 25th and the torrential rain of yesterday is finally over.
We received 62 mm (about 1 1/4") of rain.
The level of the lake rose 4 cm and is currently 19 cm (or about 7 1/2 ") above average for this time of year.
The clearance under the Road 38 bridge is 1.5 m or about 59".

Re: How High is the Lake and Can I Get Under the Bridge?

It's now the 25th of June (6 months to Christmas :-) ) and the lake level has continued to drop. It is now 45 cm (18 in) below the high level of May 10th. Clearance under the Road 38 bridge is now approx 57 inches, this despite the rain we've had. Have a great Canada day weekend. Ken Waller V-Pres S...

Re: How High is the Lake and Can I Get Under the Bridge?

It's Thu, June 8th and, thankfully, the lake level has continued it's downward trend. From the highest level (May 10th) the lake has dropped 35 cm, or about 14". The level is, however, still 21 cm (a little over 8") above the historical average for this date. The clearance under the Road 38 bridge i...

Caterpillars, Caterpillars and More Caterpillars

If you've been outside lately you've probably seen caterpillars by the hundreds dangling from nearly invisible 'silk' lines. I managed to find out that, thankfully, these are not Gypsy Moth caterpillars, but Forest Tent caterpillars. I've attached a picture that shows what they look like and what th...

Re: How High is the Lake and Can I Get Under the Bridge?

It's Sat, May 27th. Happy Memorial Day weekend to our American friends and members. Despite all the rain this week, the lake level continues to drop about 1 cm per day. From the peak level on May 10th the lake has dropped 28 cm (about 11 1/2"). We are, however 23 cm (9") above the historical average...
